News Gypsy Librettist Arthur Laurents to Discuss Career on WYNC July 21 Arthur Laurents, the librettist for West Side Story and Gypsy and the author of many plays, will look back on his career in the theatre on the July 21 edition of WNYC's "The Leonard Lopate Show."

Laurents began writing for the theatre more than 50 years ago with the play Home of the Brave. Among his other works are The Time of the Cuckoo, Jolson Sings Again and Anyone Can Whistle. His candid autobiography, published a few years back, is titled "Story by Arthur Laurents."

Also on the July 21 show will be Playbill On-Line editor Robert Simonson discussing his new book of theatrical profiles "On Broadway, Men Still Wear Hats" (Smith & Kraus).

"The Leonard Lopate Show" airs on New York City's NPR station, WNYC (820 AM and 93.9 FM), from noon to 2 PM.
