DeGarmo, 25, who finished as runner-up on the third season of "American Idol," met Young, 32, who also made it into the finals on "American Idol" on the show's fifth season, when the duo joined the 2009 Broadway company of Hair. DeGarmo succeeded Caissie Levy as Sheila, and Young took over for Will Swenson as Berger.

The couple was engaged May 23, 2012, on the 11th season finale of "American Idol" on the stage of the NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE. Prior to the announcement of the winner, Young got down on bended knee to propose to a teary-eyed DeGarmo, who accepted his proposal.

DeGarmo has also been seen on Broadway in Hairspray as well as Off-Broadway in The Toxic Avenger. She has also been attached to the Broadway-aimed musical Nerds. Young made his Broadway debut in Grease.
