Jackie Hoffman, known for the quirky, improvised one-liners she delivers as Penny's mother Prudy in Hairspray, will deliver more than a few one-liners in her solo show, If You Call This Living, playing Oct. 20, 27 and Nov. 3 at Joe's Pub.

The evening, which promises plenty of laughs from a "cock-eyed pessimist," will feature songs and chat with Obie winner Hoffman. David Brunetti is at the piano. Michael Schiralli directs.

Hoffman won her Obie for The Book of Liz. She appeared in the movies "Kissing Jessica Stein" and "Mo' Money" and on the comedy sketch show "Strangers With Candy." Hairspray is her Broadway debut.

Tickets are $20 and the show begins at 7:30 PM. Joe's Pub is located within the Public Theater at 425 Lafayette Street, between East 4th Street and Astor Place.
