News Hairspray's Walsh Kicks Off New Concert Series; Song List Announced Barbara Walsh, who is currently starring as Velma Von Tussle in Broadway's Hairspray will kick off the Duplex's new concert series, Broadway Downtown, Jan. 31.

The series, which presents Broadway performers in their own solo shows, will also feature She Loves Me's Sally Mayes (Feb. 7 at 7 PM), current Mamma Mia! star Liz McCartney (Feb. 28 at 7 PM), Titanic's Judy Blazer (with Steve Marzullo, Feb. 28 at 9:30 PM) and Jekyll & Hyde's Christiane Noll (March 7 at 7 PM). Barrett Foa, soon to succeed John Tartaglia in the Tony-winning Avenue Q, finishes the series, March 21 at 7 PM. During her 7 PM concert, Walsh will perform songs by Jacques Brel, Jeff Blumenkrantz, John Lennon and Paul McCartney, William Finn, Ellen Weiss, Joni Mitchell and Michael John LaChiusa. Barbara Walsh received Tony and Drama Desk nominations and the Los Angeles Ovation Award for her work as Trina in William Finn's Falsettos; her other Broadway credits include Hairspray, Big, Blood Brothers, Nine and Rock 'N Roll ! The First 5000 Years. Off-Broadway she has been seen in Forbidden Broadway and Birds of Paradise, and her regional credits include The Most Happy Fella, Houdini, Exactly Like You, A Streetcar Named Desire and Ragtime. Walsh's screen credits feature roles in "Life with Mikey" and "Law & Order."
