Hamilton, about our nation's first Treasury Secretary, debuted Off-Broadway Feb. 17 at the Newman Theater in the Public Theater complex, where it is continuing its sold-out three-times-extended run through May 3. There will also be a special benefit performance May 4.

The show is currently scheduled to go on hiatus after May 4, and begin Broadway previews July 13 aiming for an Aug. 6 opening at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, 246 West 46th Street. Ticket sales have been brisk since the Broadway box office opened March 8. Hamilton sold a hefty $6.5 million in tickets in the 11 days after the box office opened, according to a report in The New York Times.
Hamilton was inspired by the book "Alexander Hamilton" by Ron Chernow and features book, music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler and direction by Thomas Kail, who previously collaborated on the Tony-winning musical In the Heights.
