Javier Muñoz, who was the first to succeed Lin-Manuel Miranda in the title role of Broadway's Hamilton, will be seen in the new independent film Monuments, according to Variety.
The comedy also features David Sullivan, Marguerite Moreau, David Pasquesi, Joel Murray, and Shunori Ramanathan. Screenwriter Jack C. Newell is also directing the movie, which is shooting in Chicago and Denver.
Monuments casts Muñoz as the former boyfriend of a young woman who is killed in Colorado in a freak accident. The film follows her current partner, who is determined to spread her ashes where the couple first fell for each other.
Muñoz made his Broadway debut in the Tony-winning In the Heights.
The new jukebox musical featuring the songs of Huey Lewis and the News follows a Chicagoan whose failed band leads to him returning to corporate America.
