News Hare's The Vertical Hour Eyes London's Royal Court David Hare's play The Vertical Hour is to receive its U.K. premiere at London's Royal Court theatre in 2008, according to reports in the Daily Mail.

The British playwright's drama received its world premiere on Broadway in November 2006 in a production directed by Sam Mendes and starring film actress Julianne Moore in her Broadway debut.

No dates or casting have been confirmed for the U.K. run, although Jeremy Herrin (That Face) has been mentioned as a possible director.

In Mendes' production Moore's character and her boyfriend visit the boyfriend's father in the Welsh countryside, where the trio get into heated discussions about love, death, marriage, parenthood and the Iraq war.

Meanwhile Hare is also reported to be researching a new large scale work for the National Theatre which explores controversial political themes while Tony Blair was Prime Minister.

The play is thought to be earmarked for the National's Olivier stage next year. Howard Davies is said to be set to direct. Hare's previous play for the National, which also featured Tony Blair, was Stuff Happens which premiered in 2004. The Public Theater Off-Broadway production substantially extended its run, while The Vertical Hour, which opened at the Music Box Theatre on Broadway, ended its run three weeks before the initial booking period finished.
