It will be the second time Shaffer's hit 1970 play will be filmed. Michael Caine and Laurence Olivier starred in a 1972 movie. Shaffer himself wrote the screenplay for the feature. Jude Law ("The Talented Mr. Ripley") will star in the flick. Variety reported Caine might also star, this time taking the role played by Olivier in 1972.
The two-hander concerns a writer, Andrew Wyke, who decides to seek revenge on callow hairdresser Milo Tindle, who stole his wife away. After luring the younger man to his country home, the two rivals indulge in twisted gamesmanship, deception and disguises to prove who is the better man. Anthony Quayle and Keith Baxter starred in the original Broadway production.
