The recent New York Times TimesTalk celebrating the career of A Catered Affair's Harvey Fierstein will air on CUNY TV beginning May 23.


"Harvey & Friends," which was moderated by New York Times journalist Jesse Green, will debut on the cable channel May 23 at 8 AM with encore broadcasts scheduled for May 23 at 4 and 9 PM and May 25 at 12 midnight; check local listings.

E Filmed live at the New York Times' TimesCenter on April 1, the event featured Emmy winner Edie Falco and Tony nominee Brooks Ashmanskas reading excerpts from Fierstein's plays Safe Sex and Torch Song Trilogy; Hairspray Tony winner Dick Latessa and A Catered Affair's Matt Cavenaugh performing from La Cage aux Folles; and A Catered Affair's Faith Prince performing with Fierstein from that new musical.

Harvey Fierstein won two 1983 Tony Awards — Best Actor in a Play and Best Play — for his groundbreaking opus Torch Song Trilogy. He also won a Best Book of a Musical Tony in 1984 for Jerry Herman’s La Cage aux Folles, and a Best Actor in a Musical Tony for Hairspray. Fierstein's other plays include Safe Sex, Spookhouse and Forget Him. His film credits include "Independence Day," "Mrs. Doubtfire," "Bullets Over Broadway," "The Times of Harvey Milk" and "Torch Song Trilogy." He wrote and starred in HBO’s "Tidy Endings," which brought him an ACE Award. Fierstein also published the children's book "The Sissy Duckling." He recently returned to Broadway in the new musical he co-wrote with John Bucchhino, A Catered Affair.
