News   Hawke, Nixon, Perez, Porter and Rose to Perform at Public Theater Benefit Nov. 3
A few tickets are still available for the Public Theater's star-studded Nov. 3 benefit, which will support the creation of new works at the downtown theatre.

The evening, a collaboration between the Public's Late Nite Committee and Esquire House, will feature performances by Ethan Hawke, Cynthia Nixon, Rosie Perez, Billy Porter and Tony Award winner Anika Noni Rose. The festivities, which also include an open bar and hors d'oeuvres, will begin at 7 PM. Esquire House, according to press notes, "has assembled 13 top designers who have each styled a section of two penthouse suites in the new Sculpture for Living building at Astor Place. The Public Theater is one of ten New York City charities Esquire has chosen. . . . For this one-night-only event, the Late Nite Committee is creating an evening of 'site specific' scenes and musical numbers — performed in the spaces, throughout the party."

Performances will begin at 7:45 PM in the Game Room with Anika Noni Rose's rendition of The Wild Party's "The Lowdown Down." At 8 PM in the Great Room Cynthia Nixon will offer monologues from Tony Kushner's A Bright Room Called Day. The bathtub scene from John Patrick Shanley's The Big Funk will be offered at 8:15 PM in the Master Bath, and at 8:30 PM (in the Master Bedroom) Rosie Perez will perform a scene from Christopher Durang's The Marriage of Bette and Boo. The Game Room will again be in use at 8:45 PM when Stephen Adly Guirgis directs a scene from his play The Last Days of Judas Iscariot. The final two performances will be held in The Great Room: at 9 PM Ethan Hawke will perform a scene from Eric Bogosian's Talk Radio, and at 9:15 PM, Billy Porter will sing a number from the musical Hair.

Esquire Downtown at Astor Place, which will house the event, is located at 445 Lafayette Street. Tickets, priced at $250 (tax deductible), are available by calling (212) 539-8633. For more information visit Click Here.
