News HBO Passes on New Lily Tomlin Series "12 Miles of Bad Road" "12 Miles of Bad Road" – the new hour-long series starring Lily Tomlin – will not air on the HBO network.

Variety reports that the new series penned by Linda Bloodworth-Thomason, Allen Crowe, and David Nichols, has been dropped from the HBO line-up because the series' creative vision was not a suitable match for the network. Bloodworth-Thomason, who executive produces the show with husband Harry Thomason, has been exploring the possibility of airing the series on another network. HBO originally ordered ten episodes of "12 Miles of Bad Road," but filming was halted due to the writers strike, and only six episodes were filmed.

In "12 Miles of Bad Road" Tomlin stars as Amelia Shakespeare, the matriarch of a wealthy Texas family, who struggles with the problems they face due to their wealth and powerful real estate business.

Tomlin is currently represented as a producer of the Off-Broadway production of The Beebo Brinker Chronicles. Her stage credits include The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe and Appearing Nightly. On screen the award-winning performer has been seen in "Nine to Five," "And the Band Played On," "All of Me," "A Prairie Home Companion," "I Heart Huckabees," "The West Wing," "The Incredible Shrinking Woman," "Lily: Sold Out" and "Edith Ann's Christmas: Just Say Noel."
