The company of the new Broadway revival of 42nd Street will be in the recording studio May 7 to create the sound of singing voices and tap dancing for a cast album. Grammy Award-nominated producer Hugh Fordin helms the new disc on the Q Record labels. A release is expected in mid June. The recording will have more than 70 minutes of music compared to the 1980 RCA cast album, which had 48 minutes.

The new album will include new musical sequences not heard on the previous disc. Expect "I Only Have Eyes For You," "With Plenty of Money and You" and "Keep Young and Beautiful" to be part of the cast album mix, where they weren't before. The score to the musical comedy, now at the Ford Center for the Performing Arts, is made up of songs written by Harry Warren and Al Dubin for classic Warner Bros. movie musicals.

The revival opened May 2. Kate Levering is Peggy Sawyer, Michael Cumpsty is Julian Marsh, Christine Ebersole is Dorothy Brock and David Elder is Billy Lawlor. Randy Skinner recreated and adds to his 1980 choreography, which was originally overseen by Gower Champion, and co-librettist Mark Bramble now directs.
