News Heartworks Benefit to Feature Savion Glover and Casts of Lion King, Mamma Mia! and Good Vibrations A star-studded benefit for the National Marfan Foundation will be held April 12 at Manhattan's Gotham Hall.

The one-night-only Marfan Gala: Heartworks event will feature the talents of Tony Award winner Savion Glover as well as cast members from the Broadway productions of The Lion King, Mamma Mia! and Good Vibrations. Ann Reinking, whose son Christopher is affected by Marfan syndrome, is the artistic chair of this year's fundraiser.

Heartworks will also honor Victor McKusick, MD and Karen Murray. Mayor Michael Bloomberg will present both McKusick and Murray with their Hero with a Heart Awards.

The gala kicks off at 6:30 PM with a reception and silent auction. The dinner, performance and live auction will follow at 7:30 PM.

Savion Glover made his Broadway debut in The Tap Dance Kid. He received a Tony Award for Best Choreography for Bring in 'Da Noise, Bring in 'Da Funk, which also brought him a Tony nomination for Best Actor in a Musical. Glover's other Broadway credits include Black and Blue (Tony nomination) and Jelly's Last Jam.

The National Marfan Foundation is "dedicated to saving lives, and improving the quality of life for individuals and families affected by the Marfan syndrome and related disorders." The Marfan syndrome is a potentially fatal connective tissue disorder that affects the eyes, bones and heart.
