News Hecht, Gyllenhaal, Sarsgaard, Hamilton Will Star in CSC's Three Sisters; Gummer Out Jessica Hecht and Maggie Gyllenhaal are two of the Three Sisters announced for director Austin Pendleton's new production of the Anton Chekhov classic, to begin performances Jan. 12, 2011, at Classic Stage Company's East Village home.

Casting for the roles of Irina and Natasha will be announced shortly. Mamie Gummer, previously announced as third sister Irina, withdrew from the production due to a scheduling conflict with the upcoming ABC television series "Off the Map," in production in Hawaii.

In the play about thwarted dreams and longing for an unreachable Moscow, Academy Award nominee Gyllenhaal ("Crazy Heart," "Secretary") will play Masha, Tony Award nominee Hecht (A View From the Bridge) will play Olga, alongside Josh Hamilton (Off-Broadway's Hurlyburly) as Andre, Peter Sarsgaard (Broadway's The Seagull) as Vershinin, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Tuesenbach, Glenn Fitzgerald (Lobby Hero, "Dirty Sexy Money") as Solyony, Roberta Maxwell as Anfisa, Louis Zorich as Chebutykin, George Morfogen as Ferapont, Paul Lazar as Kulygin, Gabriel Bettio as Rode and James Patrick Nelson as Fedotik.

Pendleton also directed Gyllenhaal and Sarsgaard in CSC's acclaimed 2009 production of Chekhov's Uncle Vanya. This production will feature a translation by Paul Schmidt. The official opening for Three Sisters is Feb. 3. This is a limited engagement to Feb. 20.

The creative team for Three Sisters will include set designer Walt Spangler, costume designer Marco Piemontese, lighting designer Keith Parham and hair designer Paul Huntley, with sound design and original music by Christian Frederickson and Ryan Rumery.

Three Sisters will perform Tuesdays through Fridays at 8 PM; Saturdays at 2 PM and 8 PM and Sundays at 2 PM.
