"Calling all Hed-heads, pull your wigs down from the shelf and come sing-along with Hedwig at The Bell House," press notes state. "For those of you that don't know all the words yet, the lyrics will be projected onscreen along with the movie."

The film version of John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask's hit Off-Broadway musical, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, emerged as one of the top winners in the 2001 Sundance Film Festival. The movie won two prizes, a directing award for Mitchell and an audience award.

Hedwig had a long run at Off-Broadway's Jane Street Theatre. The show, which took the form of a concert of the titular fictional band, told the tale of Hedwig, a tortured German-American transsexual and perennial victim of love. Mitchell originated the lead role, and sang all the score's rock-oriented songs. The Bell House is located at 149 Seventh St. between Second and Third avenues in Gowanus; call (718) 643-6510 or visit www.thebellhouseny.com for more information.
