Helen Carey, who received a 1997 Tony nomination for her work in London Assurance, will head the cast of the Guthrie Theater's production of All My Sons next month.

Arthur Miller's play, the final offering of the Guthrie's 2001-2002 season, will be directed by Artistic Director Joe Dowling and begins performance at the Minnesota theatre May 11. It runs through June 9. Joining Carey — who will portray Kate Keller — onstage are actors Jennifer Blagen (Lydia Lubey), Derek Farnam (Bert), Todd Gearhart (Chris Keller), Peter Michael Goetz (Joe Keller), Jim Lichtscheidl (Frank Lubey), Bill McCallum (George Deever), Michelle O'Neill (Ann Deever), Stephen Pelinski (Dr. Jim Bayliss), Jordan Pressman (Bert) and Marquetta Senters as Sue Bayliss.

All My Sons is a three-act drama that grapples with familiar Miller themes — fathers and sons, the American dream. It concerns a manufacturer (Joe Keller) who has sold defective airplane parts to the government and the effect his actions have on his family. The original production opened on Broadway in 1947 with a cast that included Ed Begley, Arthur Kennedy and Karl Malden. The 1987 revival featuring Richard Kiley and Jayne Atkinson won that season's Tony Award for Best Revival.

Helen Carey starred on Broadway in London Assurance, and her many regional theatre credits include The House of Bernarda Alba, Macbeth (Helen Hayes nomination), Antony & Cleopatra, Henry VI (Helen Hayes nomination), Volpone (Helen Hayes Award), Julius Caesar, As You Like It, The Cherry Orchard, Twelfth Night, A Winter's Tale, The Matchmaker, Uncle Vanya and Candida. Carey has also appeared in the films "The Pelican Brief" and "Piece of Cake" and on TV in "Homicide, Life on the Street," "Turks," "Seinfeld" and "Law & Order."

The 2002-2003 season at the Guthrie Theatre will see the premiere of a new Arthur Miller play, Resurrection Blues. Miller, who is currently represented on Broadway by the hit revival of The Crucible, has written a satiric comedy about a young revolutionary leader who is captured by a military government and sentenced to death by crucifixion. David Esbjornson, a Guthrie regular who directed the Broadway premiere of Miller's The Ride Down Mt. Morgan, will helm the production, which begins previews on August 3.
