News Hot Flash! NYC's Menopause Hits 1,500th Performance Nov. 10 The Off-Broadway production of Menopause The Musical will play its 1,500th performance Nov. 10 at Playhouse 91.

The little show about a clutch of women celebrating their identity as ladies of a certain age has blossomed to play to more than one million people throughout the world, and joins such Off-Broadway shows as Stomp and Blue Man Group in the 1,500-performance club.

"Menopause The Musical has criss-crossed the country on tour," according to the producers. "In addition to New York, productions are now or have played in Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Orlando, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Detroit, Denver, Des Moines and Fort Lauderdale. International productions are being planned for the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Mexico, Brazil, Turkey and Israel."

Menopause The Musical "is a musical parody that chronicles the meeting of four women at a lingerie sale in Bloomingdale's fighting over a black lace bra." Their only things in common are "memory loss, hot flashes, night sweats, chocolate binges, wrinkles, plastic surgery, hormones, not enough sex, too much sex, and much, much more."

The show that appeals especially to a certain demographic boasts a score that includes parodies of pop songs.

Joy Lynn Matthews, Sally Ann Swarm Lynn Elderedge and Megan Thomas will be the performers during the 1,500th performance celebration. Corinne Aquilina is musical director, Patty Bender is choreographer and Kathleen Lindsey is the director. Menopause The Musical plays Playhouse 91, 316 E. 91st Street between First and Second Avenues.

Performances play Tuesdays-Saturdays at 8 PM and Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays at 3 PM. In January, the show will add Special "Early Bird" Matinees at 1 PM.

Single tickets are $55. For information, call (212) 831-2000.
