Classic Arts News Houston Symphony Names Two Principals The Houston Symphony has named Brinton Smith its principal cello and Mark Inouye its principal trumpeter, the orchestra announced.
Smith is currently a member of the New York Philharmonic; he was previously principal cellist of the Fort Worth Symphony and the San Diego Symphony. He has taught at Columbia and Texas Christian University.

Inouye is the Houston Symphony's acting principal trumpet. He previously performed with the San Francisco Symphony and served as co-principal trumpet of the New World Symphony and principal trumpet of the Charleston Symphony.

Both musicians are alumni of the Juilliard School.
