After six years general managing Houston's Alley Theatre, Harold Wolpert will return from whence he came -- New York City's Manhattan Theatre Club. Wolpert leaves the Alley Theatre to take over the general manager slot from the departing Victoria Bailey.
Among Wolpert's Texas achievements have been the well-received productions of Angels in America and Robert Wilson's Hamlet, a Monologue and the world premiere of The Civil War. He also smoothed the way for the Alley's co-production of Tennessee Williams' early play Not About Nightingales with London's Royal National Theatre.
Wolpert takes his position at Manhattan Theatre Club April 10.
Stepping into a new position meant to fill Wolpert's void is Alley production manager Sean Skeehan. The Alley production manager since 1998 and a former general manager of the Dallas Theater Center, Skeehan becomes the Alley's new director of production and operations.
