Hudson won the SAG for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for her performance as Effie, while Murphy won the SAG for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role for his work as the ill-fated James “Thunder” Early.

Helen Mirren also repeated her Golden Globe success at the 13th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, which were presented at the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center. As she did at the Globes, Mirren won two awards: the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role Award for her work in “The Queen” and the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries for her performance in “Elizabeth I.”

Mirren’s co-star in “Elizabeth I,” Jeremy Irons, was also honored with the SAG for Outstanding Male Actor in a TV Movie or Miniseries; Irons, too, won a Golden Globe for that performance.

Other SAG winners of interest to theatre fans: Recent Golden Globe winner Alec Baldwin won the SAG for Outstanding Male Actor in a Comedy Series for his work on the series “30 Rock,” and Caroline, or Change co-star Chandra Wilson was named Outstanding Female Actor in a Drama Series for her work on “Grey’s Anatomy.”
