News Hunka Hunka Revue Opens Caldwell Theatre's Season in Boca Raton Caldwell Theatre Company in Boca Raton, Florida, will swivel its hips for its 2006-07 season opener.

The Mainstage season for the resident Equity troupe begins with the Florida premiere of Hunka Hunka Burnin' Love, "an Elvis Presley Musical Tribute," Nov. 5-Dec. 17.

Conceived and produced by Jack Lewin and created by Will Friedwald, Jay Leonhart and Jack Lewin, the show has had previous runs in New York City (at Au Bar) and Michigan (its world premiere). The Caldwell production is the second U.S. engagement following its debut at the Mason Street Warehouse in Saugatuck, MI. Kurt Stamm directed in Michigan, and will again pilot the show in the Sunshine State.

The musical is billed as "a celebration of the large volume of work that made Elvis Presley a star and acclaimed musician of almost every style of music."

It's "not an Elvis impersonation, but a celebration of nearly 80 of the songs he made famous, recorded and/or performed in concert."

The 2006-07 Caldwell season also includes Robert Harling's Steel Magnolias featuring Elizabeth Dimon, Margery Lowe, Pat Nesbit, Angie Radosh and Laura Turnbull (Dec. 30-Feb. 11, 2007); a drama to be announced (Feb. 18-April 1, 2007); and the return of the musical comedy Cowgirls (April 8–May 20, 2007) by Mary Murfitt and Betsy Howie. Caldwell also offers a new play reading series. Audience talkbacks and professional actors are part of the mix. Scheduled for readings in the coming season are The Walk In by Jeff Millar, Unwavering Light by Richard Janaro, The Whipping Man by Matthew Lopez, Lover's Leap by Frank Higgins.
