News Hunter Foster, Brooks Ashmanskas, Andréa Burns, Jessica Molaskey, Martin Moran Set for Reading of The Drama Department A by-invitation-only reading of James Hindman's The Drama Department will be presented April 22 in Manhattan.

Directed by Peter Flynn, the reading will feature the talents of Brooks Ashmanskas, Andréa Burns, Hunter Foster, Jessica Molaskey, Martin Moran, Kelsey Fowler and Alex Scheitinger. Based on a true story, The Drama Department, according to press notes, concerns "a mid-west high school which takes great pride in its Debate & Dramatics teacher until the son of the school board president isn’t cast as the lead in the school musical. Slowly and insidiously rumors are spread to create dissent and scandal as we watch loyal friends, students, and teachers turn against him in this sharp and gripping comedy of suspicion and personal integrity."

The play was a finalist for The Terrence McNally Award and most recently had developmental readings at The Hangar Theatre and The Blank Theatre Co. in Los Angeles.

Hindman wrote The Drama Department while performing in the Broadway production of Mary Poppins. His other writing credits include Pete ‘n’ Keely (Outer Critics Award nomination), Transport Group’s The Audience (Drama Desk nomination) and Being Audrey, and last year’s extended hit at Goodspeed Musicals, The Bikinis.
