News I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change Gets a New Star from Broadway, Aug. 26 Broadway star David Engel joins the cast of Off-Broadway's long-running musical revue I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change Aug. 26 at the Westside Theatre.

The actor — who replaces Colin Stokes — joins Courtney Balan, Anne Bobby and Timothy Gulan currently perform in the work directed by Joel Bishoff. James Hammerstein Productions, Bernie Kukoff and Jonathan Pollard produce.

Engel has appeared on Broadway in the original production of La Cage aux Folles as well as Putting It Together and Suessical. He played the role of Aggie on stage and in the film version of The Best Little Whorehouse and originated the role of Smudge in Forever Plaid (and later played in London and Los Angeles productions).

I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change features music by Jimmy Roberts with a book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro. The musical comedy that delves into the world of dating, love and marriage is also the longest-running musical revue in New York history, having broken the record set by Smokey Joe's Cafe.

The show's creators presented their second Off-Broadway offering, The Thing About Men, in the summer of 2003 at Off-Broadway's Promenade Theatre with Marc Kudisch, Ron Bohmer, Leah Hocking, Daniel Reichard and original I Love You... star Jennifer Simard in the cast. DiPietro is also the bookwriter for the Broadway musical All Shook Up, featuring the music of Elvis Presley, which plays at the Palace Theatre, where it began Feb. 20 and opened March 24, 2005.
