The recital is the first in a seven-concert series, called "Perspectives," programmed and performed by Andsnes. This series, now in its sixth year, invites musicians to create a concert series and collaborate with ensembles and other musicians. Michael Tilson Thomas and Dawn Upshaw are also creating "Perspectives" concerts this season.

Andsnes's program features a range of works, including music by such contemporary composers as Gy‹rgy Kurtšg, Matthias Ronnefeld, and Bent Sêªrensen, whose Carnegie Hall-commissioned work will receive its world premiere in January 2005. Guest performers for the series include the San Francisco Symphony and violinist Christian Tetzlaff.

Bostridge and Andsnes have performed Winterreise, a song cycle based on 24 poems by Wilhelm M‹ller, in Berlin and Hamburg, and will tour the recital to San Francisco, Chicago, Vancouver, and Kalamazoo in the coming month. The pair's recording of the Schubert cycle was released last month on the EMI Classics label.
