News Ian McKellen and Trudie Styler to Appear in Gala Reading of Chekhov's The Seagull in London Ian McKellen and Trudie Styler will play Peter and Isobel, respectively, in a staged reading of Thomas Kilry's Irish version of Chekhov's The Seagull at the St. James Theatre in London June 1. It is being staged as a benefit to help fund the work of Out of Joint, the U.K.'s leading touring theatre company for new writing, and will be directed by Out of Joint's artistic director Max Stafford-Clark.

Set in late 19th County Galway, Kilroy’s version of the play was originally commissioned and directed by Stafford-Clark at the Royal Court in 1981 and was revived in New York last year, when Styler first played Isobel.

The cast will also feature Stella Feehily as Pauline and Lloyd Hutchinson as Cousin Gregory. Further casting is to be announced.
