The three performances feature the experiences of alumni of the Taglit-Birthright Israel program, which provides free educational trips to Israel for young Jewish adults. Vanessa Hidary directs.
The short pieces featured in the production — all written by the performers — "take on a range of issues germane to Jewish life and culture, including the Western Wall, race, Hebrew, Chinese food, the Holocaust, Jewish giving and husband-hunting," according to press notes.
In a statement director Hidary said, "Finding one's identity is a constant challenge, as identity is fluid and eternally shifting. Theatre has proved a powerful medium to express the questions and struggles about identity raised to many young Jewish adults as they participated in their ten day emotional journey through Israel."
Show times are March 18 at 7 PM, March 22 at 9 PM and March 25 at 7 PM.
The Triad Theater is located in Manhattan at 158 West 72nd Street. Reservations are available by calling (212) 362-2590.
