Idina Menzel (Wicked, If/Then) will return to the stage later this month in the world premiere of Joshua Harmon's play Skintight at Roundabout Theatre Company. The Off-Broadway production will mark the Tony Award winner's first non-musical role in New York, under the direction of Daniel Aukin.
Menzel will play a divorcée with a 20-year-old son, who discovers that her famous father is in a relationship with a much younger, gay adult film actor. The actor has been been a part of the development of the play—which was commissioned by Roundabout—since its first reading in early 2015.
Skintight will begin performances May 31 in the Laura Pels Theatre in the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre, and will officially open June 21.
Completing the cast are Will Brittain, Stephen Carrasco, Eli Gelb, Cynthia Mace, and Jack Wetherall.
