Previews begin Sept. 20 at Theater for the New City with an official opening Oct. 1. The limited engagement will end Oct. 20.
The cast of 25 features Jack Landron, Shawn Elliott, Peter Jay Fernandez, Mercedes Herrero, Mickey Solis, Erin Wagner and Miriam Colon.
Night Over Taos, according to a season announcement, is "the true story about a Mexican freedom fighter, Pablo Montoya, who in 1847 led a bloody and ultimately futile siege to protect New Mexico from being ceded to the United States. Though written 75 years ago, the themes and conflicts that comprise this epic drama ring eerily prophetic today given the growing sense of xenophobia in America."
The design team includes Peter Larkin (scenic design), Howard Thies (lighting design) and Erich Bechtel (sound design). Yukio Tsuji has composed original music for Taos.
Estelle Parsons made her Broadway debut in Happy Hunting and was most recently on The Great White Way in Morning's at Seven. In between, she starred in Whoop-Up; Beg, Borrow or Steal; Mother Courage and Her Children; Ready When You Are, C.B.!; Malcolm; The East Wind; Galileo; The Seven Descents of Myrtle; A Way of Life; And Miss Reardon Drinks a Little; Mert & Phil; The Norman Conquests; Ladies at the Alamo; Miss Margarida's Way; The Pirates of Penzance; Shimada; and The Shadow Box. Parsons received Tony nominations for her work in Morning's at Seven, Miss Margarida's Way, And Miss Reardon Drinks a Little and The Seven Descents of Myrtle. Also a star of film and TV, Parsons garnered an Academy Award for her performance in "Bonnie and Clyde." INTAR's 2007-2008 season will continue in December at the Lion Theatre on Theater Row with Carmelita Tropicana and Ela Troyano's Bring It On, Yous Tube. That will be followed by Jorge Ignacio Cortiñas' Bird in the Hand, also at the Lion Theatre, in spring 2008.
