"After an amazing year that saw Intiman honored with the Tony Award, [managing director] Laura Penn and I want to keep pushing the boundaries," said artistic director Bartlett Sher in the announcement. "All of the artists in this 35th anniversary season are connected to the kind of ambition that has been part of Intiman's history. From a new play by one of the most extraordinary writers of our age, [Intiman associate artistic director] Craig Lucas, to classics by Harper Lee and Chekhov, the productions in this season reflect Intiman’s commitment to important work and the telling of great stories. And what a thrill it is to be bringing back The Light in the Piazza almost four years after its premiere here."
In addition to the announced five-play season, the 2006 Regional Theatre Tony Award-winning Intiman will offer the 10th anniversary of its holiday production Black Nativity: A Gospel Song Play by Langston Hughes. Dates and one play are yet to be announced.

Set during the Iraq war, this world premiere follows "the connection between two childhood friends who are unexpectedly reunited on the eve of one's first tour of duty in Baghdad."
Continuing the Intiman's five-year American Cycle series, Christopher Sergel dramatizes the Harper Lee Pulitzer Prize winner set in a small town in 1930s' Alabama. According to materials, "The story is told through the eyes of Scout, a six year-old girl whose father, the lawyer Atticus Finch, teaches her about courage and human dignity when he defends a black man accused of raping a poor white girl."
The classic drama which centers on a retired professor who, with his beautiful young new wife, revisits his country home where his ex-wife's brother still lives.
