"Broadway Babysitters" will have a referral-only community of sitters and families who love theatre.

While the service is still in its early phases, sitters and families are able to sign up for exclusive discounts and be the among the first in the know about any developments or opportunities.

Sitters are also able to provide "extras" to families, such as voice lessons or backstage tours.

In an interview with Playbill.com, actress Kait Kerrigan, who is not affiliated with the new service, said, "There is no such thing as maternity leave in the world that we live in. We own our work, which is a great thing. But we aren't in a position when it comes to health insurance, maternity leave, bigger things like that you're kind of just dealing. You take the time off that you need to take off, but you also don't make money when you do that."
