A spokesperson for Disney had no comment about a possible Broadway staging of the musical, which was recently seen at the St. Louis Muny and is currently playing a limited engagement at The Tuacahn Amphitheatre in Utah.

The Tuacahn production marks the first regional engagement of the newly expanded and revised production of Aladdin, which debuted at Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre July 7, 2011.

The desert-set fable has found an ideal locale at Tuacahn, an outdoor ampitheatre ensconced in the red sandstone cliffs of Utah's Padre Canyon. The production promises "illusions, camels, magic flying carpets, giant water effects and a live interactive 3DS movie created specifically for this production."

The two-hour and 15-minute stage adaptation incorporates the Academy Award-winning songs from the 1992 film, penned by composer Menken (Sister Act, Leap of Faith, Newsies) and lyricists Howard Ashman (Little Shop of Horrors, The Little Mermaid) and Tim Rice (Evita, Jesus Christ Superstar), with a new book by Chad Beguelin (The Wedding Singer), who has also penned new lyrics along with Menken. Aladdin also restores several songs that were cut prior to the original film release.

The Disney film was written by Ron Clements, John Musker, Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio, and directed and produced by Ron Clements and Jon Musker.
