Playwright-actress Zohar Tirosh bring her experiences as a soldier in the Israeli Army to the stage Sept. 8, when she debuts her new work, Pieces, at the Blue Heron Arts Center. The production, directed by Kathleen Powers, runs through Sept. 17. Pieces concerns three years in Tirosh's life, from 1994 to 1996, in which she abandoned an artistic life in New York City and became a commander in the Israeli forces. Through the one-person work, which she performs herself, Tirosh hopes to show the human side of fighting men and women and the nature of life for young people in tempest-torn Israel.

Tickets are $12-$15. The Blue Heron is located at 23 E. 24th St. For more information, call (212) 501-4270.
