Classic Arts News Jacob's Pillow Announces 2006 Season The Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival will include performances by Suzanne Farrell Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, and the Mark Morris Dance Group this year, the festival announced.
The 2006 season, the festival's 74th, opens June 17 with a gala performance and runs through August 27. The festival takes place on a converted farm in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts.

Suzanne Farrell Ballet, the company founded by the former New York City Ballet dancer in 2000, visits July 5-9 for a rare appearance outside its home base at the Kennedy Center. The all-Balanchine program includes Variations for Orchestra, the last solo that the choreographer created for Farrell.

Pacific Northwest Ballet (August 16-20) makes its first trip to the East Coast since 1996. The group, under the direction of former NYCB dancer Peter Boal since last fall, will perform works by Balanchine, Paul Gibson, and company member Sonia Dawkins. The Mark Morris company, a longtime fixture at the festival, will continue its 25th-anniversary celebration with performances of old and new repertoire August 22-27.

Also scheduled to appear are the Lim‹n Dance Company; the Tero Saarinen Company, performing with the Boston Camerata; the Trey McIntyre Project, performing to bluegrass music by Ralph Stanley; and Shen Wei Dance Arts, among other groups.
