Recent Tony Awards host James Corden and Australian actress Rose Byrne, seen on Broadway in You Can't Take It with You, will star in a live-action/animated feature of Peter Rabbit, based on the Beatrix Potter children’s classic, for Sony’s Columbia Pictures.

Deadline.com says that Corden, a Tony winner for his performance in One Man, Two Guvnors, will provide the voice for Peter Rabbit; Byrne will be seen in the live-action part of Bea. Also providing voices are Daisy Ridley and Elizabeth Debicki.

Will Gluck will direct the film, which the Hollywood Reporter previously described as a “modern interpretation centering on the rivalry between mischievous young hopper Peter Rabbit and Mr. McGregor, a senior trying to keep a rabbit-free garden.”

Rob Lieber penned the screenplay, which features revisions by Gluck.

Filming is expected to begin in January 2017 with an April 2018 release date.
