The SCA season is made up of national tours, concert bookings and plays and musicals produced in-house. Flaming Guns is one such resident-staged work, directed by SCA artistic director George E. Moredock III.
The play is billed as something for all generations: Hopalong Cassidy merged with "Carrie," or an "Addams Family" version of "Gunsmoke."
"Set in deepest Wyoming, Flaming Guns of the Purple Sage is a macabre comedy that pits the code of the West against contemporary darkness," SCA announced. "Jane Martin's bodacious crossover comedy mixes horror and hilarity and was a hit at the renowned Humana Festival of New American Plays where it had audience members clutching their sides from laughter."
Characters include a rodeo hellion, a demonic Ukranian biker and more. Martin is known for her plays Talking With, Cementville, Vital Signs, Keely and Du, Middle-Aged White Guys and more.
The designers include Rob Hamilton (scenic), Wendy Sloneker (costume), Graham Kindred (lighting), Bill Gagliano (sound), Zora Janosova (scenic artist) and Mike Falcigno (special effects). The cast includes Peter James Kelsch, Grady Moredock, Ken Parker, Kathryn Rossetter, Sherry Skinker, Claire Winters and Tony Zazella.
