Brown, the Tony-winning composer of Parade, 13, The Last Five Years and Songs for a New World, is joined by the eight-piece Caucasian Rhythm Kings for the engagement that runs through April 30. PBS is filming the concerts for a future broadcast.
Rose, who earned a Tony Award for Caroline, or Change and was also seen as Lorell in the film of "Dreamgirls," is Brown's special guest.
An air date for the concerts, which promise material from Brown's earlier work, solo albums and upcoming musicals (Honeymoon In Vegas, The Bridges of Madison County, The Trumpet of the Swan), has not been announced.
The concerts begin at 8 PM. For tickets, priced $35, phone (212) 352-3101. The Abrons Arts Center is located at 466 Grand Street on the Lower East Side.
