Hudson, an Oscar winner for "Dreamgirls" and a former "American Idol" finalist, is trying to fit the film into her busy schedule, as she is recording her first album, which Arista Records will release this fall. Rowan Woods directs the film, which is an adaptation of the Roy Freirich novel about witnesses of a murder-suicide in a fast-food restaurant.
Also starring are Kate Beckinsale, Guy Pearce, Dakota Fanning, Jackie Earle Haley, Embeth Davidtz, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Josh Hutcherson and Troy Garity. Robert Salerno is producing the pic for Unruly Films.
Hudson picked up a slew of honors — including the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress, the Golden Globe Award and the Screen Actors Guild Award — for playing the role of Effie in the Bill Condon-directed "Dreamgirls," her film debut.
