Jennifer Nettles Offers a Folksy Spin on Wicked’s ‘No Good Deed’ for #OutOfOz Series

Grammy winner Jennifer Nettles, who made her Broadway debut in 2015 as Roxie Hart in Chicago, is taking on a self-admitted dream role as part of Wicked’s #OutofOz series: Elphaba.

In the video above, the country star performs a high-energy folk take on the Wicked Witch of the West’s Act II showstopper “No Good Deed.”

The arrangement is by Ben Cohn, who is on piano in the video. They are joined by Ric Molina on guitar, Justin Smith on violin, Rob Jost on upright bass, and Jake Goldbas on percussion.

Nettles recently starred in the Hollywood Bowl presentation of Mamma Mia! This isn’t her first connection to Tony winner Idina Menzel: the two have frequently performed together, including a duet arrangement of the Frozen anthem “Let It Go” and a version of “The Little Drummer Boy,” featured on Nettles' album To Celebrate Christmas.
