News Jersey Boy to Direct Indie Film "Farm Girl in New York" with A Chorus Line Star J. Robert Spencer — one fourth of Broadway's Jersey Boys — is currently directing an independent feature film he wrote with fellow Broadway star, A Chorus Line's Jeffrey Howard Schecter.

The feature debut for the actor is titled "Farm Girl in New York" and is currently being filmed in New York.

"My friend Jeff Schecter, he and I and another guy named Josh Wade, we wrote this together," Spencer told Playbill.com. "I'm producing it and directing it and they're starring in it and we've been filming now for two weeks, we're at the halfway point. We've been shooting in the day and then doing our Broadway shows at night."

The star — who spent some time writing in Los Angeles prior to landing his current gig in Jersey Boys — had previously worked on short films and sketch comedy. He appeared in the 2006 Tony Award-winning Best Musical as late Four Seasons member Nick Massi. His Broadway debut was in Side Show — where he appeared opposite his wife Jenny-Lynn Suckling.

Schecter currently appears in the Broadway revival of A Chorus Line as Mike. He has previously enjoyed roles in The Pajama Game, Wonderful Town and Beauty and the Beast.

Spencer noted, "Jersey Boys has allowed me to meet a lot of people whose work I've loved through the years. And I was able to meet a wonderful gentleman and flat out said to him, 'I've got this comedy I've been handing out a couple of years.' He read it and said, 'I always wanted to start a movie company, so let's go.'"
