Actor-singer-writer-director Penny Orloff's one-woman show is loosely based on her "misadventures in show business." "Breaking into show business is like breaking into Fort Knox," reads a production statement. "Breaking out, we're talking Alcatraz." The limited engagement, featuring musical direction by Jose C. Simbulan, runs through March 27. Jewish Thighs, according to press notes, concerns Miriam Rosen, who has been "in love with show business since early childhood. [She] has imagined herself as the Little Trouper who finds stardom and true love by the end of the movie. After a hundred shows and a hundred one-night stands love and fame still elude her, and she'd rather suck a tailpipe than face another audition. Complicating her search for the Busby Berkeley ending is her primitive alter-ego —The Beast. This creature can track, kill, dismember and devour an entire cheesecake; and kick the crap out of smaller muggers on the sidewalks of New York. When she finds love at long last, she is faced with an agonizing choice: Showbiz or The Guy." The production also features tunes by Irving Berlin, George Gershwin and Stephen Sondheim.

The Clurman Theatre at Theatre Row is located at 410 West 72nd Street. Tickets, priced at $25, are available by calling (212) 279-4200 or by visiting www.ticketcentral.com. For more information visit www.jewishthighs.com.
