Tony Award winner Lin-Manuel Miranda has joined forces with pop singer Jennifer Lopez to record a song, “Love Make the World Go Round” [sic] that will be used as a fundraiser for the victims and survivors of the June 12 Pulse nightclub shootings in Orlando, FL. Specifically, funds will go to the Hispanic Federation's Proyecto Somos Orlando, which offers bilingual services.

Miranda gave one of the most moving speeches about the Orlando attack during the 2016 Tony Awards ceremony, which occurred the same day as the shootings. His last scheduled performance in Hamilton is July 9.

A teaser video of “Love Make the World Go Round” was posted on Twitter:

No release date for the full version has been announced.

On its website, Proyecto Somos Orlando wrote, “The days, weeks, months, and even years following will be a time of healing for our nation, but especially for victims and the families of the victims. Proyecto Somos Orlando will address the long-term needs for mental health services that are culturally competent and bilingual. Proyecto will enable care to be delivered to those affected directly in the communities in which they live. Beyond emergency assistance, they will be provided with case management, crisis intervention, and mental health services, among other needs.”

The song bears no relation to “Love Makes the World Go Round” from the musical Carnival!
