Broadway News Joe Tippett Will Step Into Broadway's Waitress The performer joins the company the same day as the musical's new star, Betsy Wolfe.

Joe Tippett, who recently appeared Off-Broadway in All the Fine Boys, will join the cast of Broadway’s Waitress. The stage and screen alum will take on the role of Earl—a role he originated in the musical's world premiere at the American Repertory Theater—beginning June 13. He’ll succeed Tony nominee Will Swenson, who takes his final bow June 11.

As previously reported, Betsy Wolfe will also begin performances June 13, taking center stage as Jenna and replacing the show’s composer Sara Bareilles, who stepped in for a limited engagement in her own show.

Tippett made his Broadway debut in 2015's Airline Highway. His additional credits include Indian Summer Off-Broadway and NBC's upcoming theatre-themed series Rise.

The current cast of Waitress also includes Chris Diamantopoulos as Dr. Pomatter, Charity Angel Dawson as Becky, Caitlin Houlahan as Dawn, Tony nominee Christopher Fitzgerald as Ogie, Dakin Matthews as Joe, and Eric Anderson as Cal. Original cast member Drew Gehling will reprise his performance as Dr. Pomatter beginning June 27.
