News   Joel Grey Fractures Foot; Robert Creighton Puts on a Temporary Moonface in Anything Goes
Joel Grey, who plays Moonface Martin, Public Enemy No. 13, in the Tony Award-winning Anything Goes, has been sidelined from the production due to a minor fracture in his left foot. The Cagneyesque character actor Robert Creighton, who usually plays the Purser in the show, has stepped into Grey's part until the veteran returns.

Grey, a Tony Award winner for the iconic role of the Emcee in the original Cabaret, sustained his injury while walking around New York City.

"His doctors expect him to make a full recovery in two weeks, and he looks forward to returning to Anything Goes as soon as he can," according to a Roundabout Theatre Company statement on Oct. 4. Grey has been out of the Roundabout's revised revival of the 1934 Cole Porter musical comedy at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre since Sept. 30.

Feisty Creighton co-wrote and was featured as the title character in the biographical musical Cagney, about actor James Cagney. He was nominated for South Florida Carbonell Awards for his acting and writing on the project.

Canadian-born Creighton's acting credits include Broadway's Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Timon in The Lion King (Toronto/Los Angeles), The Little Mermaid and Damn Yankees for Encores! Summer Stars.

The Tony-winning revival of Anything Goes, which recently extended through April 29, 2012, is directed and choreographed by Kathleen Marshall and stars 2011 Tony Award winner Sutton Foster as Reno Sweeney and Colin Donnell as Billy Crocker. The current cast also features John McMartin as Elisha Whitney, Kelly Bishop as Evangeline Harcourt, Adam Godley as Lord Evelyn Oakleigh, Erin Mackey as Hope Harcourt, Jessica Stone as Erma, Walter Charles as Captain, Andrew Cao as Luke and Raymond J. Lee as John. Additional cast members include Clyde Alves, Ward Billeisen, Joyce Chittick, Daniel J. Edwards, Kimberly Fauré, Josh Franklin, Justin Greer, Tari Kelly, Michelle Lookadoo, Shina Ann Morris, Linda Mugleston, Kevin Munhall, Mary Michael Patterson, Adam Perry, Hayley Podschun, William Ryall, Jennifer Savelli, Anthony Wayne and Kristen Beth Williams.

Set aboard a transatlantic cruise ship, Anything Goes has music and lyrics by Cole Porter; original book by P.G. Wodehouse & Guy Bolton and Howard Lindsay & Russel Crouse; and new book by Timothy Crouse and John Weidman.
