John Glover is back in New York, movie-making -- but he has a lot of trouble telling you the name of the picture. "It has the M-word in the title," he says by way of an explanation.
He being an actor -- and a Tony-winning one (Love! Valour! Compassion!) -- this means you just dial M for Macbeth. Glover co-stars with Nick Gregory, Gloria Reuben, Harold /Perrineau Jr., Jordan Bridges and David Lansbury in Macbeth in Manhattan.
This low-budget opus about a band of actors doing a cursed production of Macbeth in New York City marks the directorial debut of Greg Lombardo, formerly artistic director for the National Shakespeare Company. He and Joe Gagen co-authored the screenplay.
The company is rehearsing this week and will go before the cameras Monday, June 8.
The Cherry Lane Theatre will be one of the film locales. Settings similar to those in the original Shakespearean play are currently being scouted for around New York.-- By Harry Haun
