News John Lahr and David Ives: The Creative Process Will Be Presented April 17 John Lahr and David Ives will take part in a discussion about the creative process April 17 at 92YTribeca.

Author and New Yorker senior drama critic Lahr will join playwright Ives, currently represented on Broadway with Venus in Fur, for a "lively conversation at 92YTribeca on the art of creating new works for the stage," according to press notes. The evening will begin at 7 PM.

Lahr and Ives, press notes continue, will "explore the unique creative challenges in developing new plays and adapting existing source materials for the stage today. How much 'poetic license' does a writer have with someone’s real-life story? How do you decide what to change and what to honor in an adaptation?"

Ives has adapted 32 American musicals for the City Center Encores! series. Lahr earned a Tony Award for co-writing Elaine Stritch at Liberty.

The 92YTribeca is located at 200 Hudson Street in Manhattan.
