The program brings together contemporary world-class international artists each year to make Joyce’s text new and accessible to modern audiences. This year’s broadcast will feature artists from New York City, Los Angeles, London and Dublin.
New York playwright and performer Wallace Shawn will perform as Leopold Bloom with novelist Anne Enright narrating the entire Calypso episode. Actor John Lithgow will perform the poetry of Joyce as well as Charles Lamb’s version of the Ulysses legend, Joyce’s first encounter with the story while a student.
Others performing in the radio broadcast include Paul Dooley, Bob Odenkirk, Marc Maron, Paul Muldoon, Marc Singer, Jim Fletcher, Nick McDonell, Caraid O’Brien, Kate Valk, John O’Callaghan, Conn Horgan, Marie-Louise Bowe, Aaron Beall and Shawnee Benton, among others.
