Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright John Patrick Shanley, playwright Adam Rapp and composer Joe Iconis will preview their upcoming work at Joe's Pub in early November.

The evenings are presented by Artist Collective NYC as part of Preview of the Arts 2011, which will feature various artists and organizations offering brief glimpses of their upcoming work. The events are the first in the new series that was created to provide artists and audiences an opportunity to engage in dialogue about evolving work.

The American Place Theatre will launch the series Nov. 5 at 7 PM with Tim O'Brien's Vietnam War piece The Things They Carried. Wynn Handman directs the solo play that features Billy Lyons. American Place executive director David Kene will lead the panel discussion.

Award-winning Doubt playwright Shanley will join American Theatre Wing executive director Howard Sherman Nov. 5 at 9:30 PM. Shanley will discuss his acclaimed career, which also includes "Moonstruck," "Joe Versus the Volcano"  and Danny and the Deep Blue Sea.

Astoria's Museum of the Moving Image and Focus Films will offer "Africa First" screenings Nov. 6 at 7 PM. The initiative, which encourages the work of African filmmakers, will be represented with a screening of three short films. A panel discussion will follow.

Iconis will be joined by Lorinda Lisitza, Lauren Marcus, A.J. Shively and Jason "SweetTooth" Williams to perform ReWrite Nov. 6 at 9:30 PM. John Simpkins will direct a revised production of the theatre piece composed of three mini-musicals. The final offering will be a staged reading of Rapp's Ghosts in the Cottonwoods Nov. 7 at 7 PM. Rapp will direct the full-length play about a mother and son who await the arrival of a family member after he breaks out of prison. The Amoralists present the work that will feature William Apps, James Kautz, Nick Lawson, Sarah Lemp, Mandy Nicole Moore and Matthew Pilieci.
