There was no information was available on Carnegie Hall's website other than a headline across the calendar listing which read only, "This Concert Has Been Cancelled." (The recital was a rental of the hall, not a Carnegie presentation.) As of 1 am today, the website of Entertainment & Concert Promotion, Inc., the event's presenter, showed no reference to the cancellation at all.
A posting on the opera-fan webzine Parterre Box, marked 6:24 pm yesterday, reported that the 8 pm recital had been called off due to tracheitis (inflammation of the windpipe).
The program, with pianist Vincenzo Scalera, was to have included arias and songs by Mozart, Rossini, Rosa Mercedes Ayarza de Morales, Faur_, Massenet, Bizet, and Donizetti. There is as yet no word on whether the recital will be rescheduled.
Fl‹rez has a similar recital, which is sold out, scheduled for next Saturday, December 9, at the Barbican Hall in London.
