The June 14 evening performance of Classic Stage Company’s Pacific Overtures revival has been canceled. Representatives for the show have confirmed that a performer has fallen ill, and that there is no understudy for the track.

Performances of the Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman musical, directed by John Doyle and starring stage and screen favorite George Takei, are scheduled to run through June 18. The revival began April 6 at the downtown venue.

In addition to Takei, the cast includes Karl Josef Co, Marc delaCruz, Steven Eng, Megan Masako Haley, Ann Harada, Kimberly Immanuel, Austin Ku, Kelvin Moon Loh, Orville Mendoza, Marc Oka, and Thom Sesma.

The 1976 musical follows Commodore Matthew Perry on his 1853 journey to Japan to encourage trade relations and charts the Westernization of the country through a tale of a samurai and a fisherman.

Ticketholders for the canceled performance should contact the box office at (212) 677-4210, ext. 11.
