The international competition to redesign the 25-year-old TKTS ticket booth continues apace. Playbill On-Line has learned that a jury comprising civic leaders, as well as theatre, architectural and design professionals is expected to vote on the winning design within the next few weeks. Theatre Development Fund (TDF) said the response for the competition has been overwhelming, with 680 new designs submitted for review.
TDF has run the TKTS booth since its inception 25 years ago. Today, the landmark Times Square facility sells $1.7 million in discount tickets annually.
The winning design will be announced in mid-December, TDF said.
